Tim Tebow

Lots of people have written lots of things about Tim Tebow.

He’s not the first athlete to express his faith on the field. He’s not even the first one to do it in a noticeable way.

But what I love about Tebow is how he’s consistently ignored the critics, put his head down and played his heart out. You can feel his passion to win.

And simply because of that, whether he wins or loses today, he’s a winner in my book.

A gentle request for a bit of background for a dedicated non US reader who is not plugged in with Am football :)

          Ah, fair enough. :)

Bottom line: he’s a talented college football player drafted into the NFL. He’s a very young quarterback who is still developing his NFL-level game. He’s also a Christian who is vocal about his faith.
He has a huge and passionate fan base. Some of them love him just because of his faith. Others love him because they were fans of his in college.
He has a huge and passionate base of detractors and critics. Many hate him because of his faith (and there have been some very ugly and incendiary comments made by a few). Others think he can’t play football at the NFL level.
My perspective: he’s a humble, gracious guy who is still learning and has great potential as a football player. Here’s a piece in the Boston Herald (the hometown paper of his opponent) after he lost tonight’s game: http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/extra_points/2012/01/tim_tebow_graci.html
And just in case you weren’t aware, the “football” I’m speaking of isn’t the football they play in London. We call that soccer here. :)

And of course.. the football/soccer distinction is famous.. haha
